Miles Teller's TAG Heuer Carrera Chronosprint X Porsche: A Watch for Speed Enthusiasts (2025)

Miles Teller's TAG Heuer Features the Brand's Most Fun Feature

Former Top Gun: Maverick star Miles Teller is a guy who knows a lot about reaching Mach speeds in a matter of seconds. Last weekend, while hosting Saturday Night Live, Teller wore a watch that’s a celebration of going exceptionally fast.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronosprint X Porsche isn’t just a neat chronograph, nor is it merely a solid-gold watch that signals the depths of one’s pockets. Launched in the fall of 2023, it’s a celebration of all things “Carrera,” be they TAG Heuer or Porsche. (The name “Carrera” stems from the Carrera Panamericana, a notoriously dangerous road race held in Mexico in the 1950s that claimed the lives of nearly 30 drivers and spectators during its five-year run.) A 60th birthday party of sorts for the TAG Heuer Carrera, the watch features a very unique mechanism that as cool looking as it is technically impressive.

Housed in a 42 mm version of TAG Heuer’s “Glassbox” case, its outer flange boasts a 60-second timing scale that, upon first glance, appears strangely graduated. After pressing the chronograph “start” pusher, however, the central seconds hand sprints to life, making the first 9.1-second jump—a reference to how long it took the first 911 to notch 100km/hour—in a jiffy, then slowing down to complete the remainder of its 60-second cycle. By no means a utilitarian feature, this little sleight of hand is nonetheless a cool nod of the cap to the original Porsche 911, and requires non-circular gears within the movement in order to pull off.

Within the outer timing flange is a seconds track in black with the first nine seconds demarcated in red, while the chronograph totalizers boast further pops of color in reference to a dashboard tachometer scale’s redline markings. There are more typical chronograph features, too: A triple-register design offers running seconds, 30-minute, and 12-hour registers, while at 6:30 is a sunken date window for the watch buyers who still prefer these sorts of things. The combination of the larger 42mm sizing, the deft use of color, and the clever design of the Glassbox itself, meanwhile, increase legibility—a welcome touch for an instrument that was designed by Jack Heuer way back in the early ‘60s expressly for racing timing.

Available in both stainless steel and Teller’s 5N rose gold version, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronosprint X Porsche is much less a casual chrono and much more a serious car guy’s watch—particularly so at the latter’s price: $24,200 is required to get into one of these babies, which ships on a brown leather “911”-signed strap. Teller, for his part, has been spotted in several different brands over the years, from Vacheron Constantin to IWC. Not being associated with any particular marque, he’s free to rock all sorts of cool pieces, of which the Chronosprint is merely the latest.

ASAP Rocky’s Patek Philippe Neptune ref. 5081J-010

ASAP Rocky went deep into Patek’s back catalog for his choice of wristwear this week. Appearing with Rihanna at the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards, he wore an 18K yellow gold Neptune ref. 5081J-010 with a silver dial. Produced from the mid-’90s through the early 2000s, the Neptune was a dressy sports watch that paired more utilitarian features (crown guards, a date window, increased water resistance) with precious metals, complications, and, in certain instances, a beautiful serpentine bracelet with scale-like links. The ref. 5081J-010 in particular is one of the more pared-back references, with a time-and-date display, a decorative fluted bezel, and a simple leather strap.

Of course, Patek has made important contributions to the “dressy sports” watch category in the last several years. The brand’s Nautilus, one of the originators of the genre, and the Aquanaut both fit this descriptor and are two of the most desirable watches in the world, bar none. Victoria Beckham’s Patek Philippe Gondolo Haute Joaillerie Ref. 7042/100R

What to wear when your husband, David Beckham, is knighted? Thankfully, we Americans never have to deal with this problem that befell Victoria Beckham recently. Thankfully, Posh Spice chose the classy Patek Philippe Gondolo Haute Joaillerie ref. 7042/100R. The dainty watch is an appropriate choice for such a prestigious occasion. A part of the brand’s Gondolo collection—which is named for the Brazilian retailer Gondolo & Labouriau, once a key Patek Philippe partner based in Rio de Janeiro—it features a cushion-shaped, rose gold case and matching bracelet set with no fewer than 552 diamonds and 79 Akoya pearls. Truly a stunning watch, it’s powered by the brand’s hand-wound cal. 215 movement.

Tramell Tillman’s Urban Jürgensen UJ2

Tramell Tillman paired his blue three-piece suit at the 2025 TIME100 Next Event with a blue-dialed version of the Urban Jürgensen UJ2, one of the first models from the recently relaunched Urban Jürgensen marque. Overseen by Finnish watchmaker Kari Voutilainen and Co-CEO Alex Rosenfield, UJ is a historic Danish brand with a history stretching back to the 18th century. Adopting brand founder Urban Jürgensen’s pocket watch design language into modern wristwatch form, the UJ2 offers a double-wheel natural escapement—meaning it’s more efficient and accurate than a typical Swiss lever escapement—plus incredible good looks via a stunning guilloché dial.

Kylian Mbappé’s Hublot Big Bang 20th Anniversary All Black

Real Madrid star forward Kylian Mbappé sprang for a cool Hublot Big Bang 20th Anniversary All Black while he accepted his European Golden Boot award as the continent’s top league scorer for the 2024/2025 season. Measuring 43mm in black ceramic, this 500-piece limited edition features a cool grid-like dial with a dual-register chronograph powered by an in-house Unico movement. Paired to a matching black rubber strap, it’s an appropriate, sporty choice for an athlete of Mbappé’s stature—and one of a bevy of cool pieces in the Hublot ambassador’s arsenal.
